A brilliantly inventive team from London’s groundbreaking LOOP Collective, BLINK features a rare chance to catch rising star Alcyona in her partnership with French reed player Robin, plus inimitable, freewheeling percussion maestro Paul. After studies in France and at the Guildhall, Robin has become established with several groundbreaking new ensembles, plus the London Jazz and Michael Garrick Orchestras. Alcyona has been highly praised for her wide-ranging compositional skills, honed during studies with Mike Gibbs and others; she leads a quintet which has released a CD on Malcolm Creese’s Audio-b label. She has also played with John Etheridge, Gene Calderazzo and Chris Bowden. Blink’s whirlwind of world music, classical and jazz influences has been heard around London’s major venues, and is soon to be captured on disc.
